Spin

General

Spin, also known as "Punkapunk" was a user recruited from the site AnimeOtakuChatroom by Unright to a chat known as Novastorm in the year of 2016. Not much is known to those of Novastorm regarding their history in AnimeOtakuChatroom, but there, in the year of 2015 they began using Chatango & met StupidTamTam.

Spin's activities in Novastorm ranged from many different things:

• Pokemon
• Yu-Gi-Oh!
• Super Smash Bros.
• Arguing
• Life Blogging

Their argumentative nature led to a great deal of the conflicts within Novastorm between their first year up until their very last. Until the chatroom split between the users of NovaStorm & (-Redacted-) Lunastorm. The subjects of these arguments were almost always questionable in nature & usually amounted to no significant changes being made in their friendships.

Questionable Behaviors

Spin's activity in Novastorm was limited to the acts allowed by Hmado's lenient, though assertive rules regarding user's postings; this did not muffle the eccentricity of Spin's activities within the chatroom. Behaviors could be observed such as hyperfixation on anthropomorphism, usage of racial slurs (almost always language harmful to those of their own race), & the careless nature of his oftentimes reckless actions.

The Tam Era (2015-2020)

During the years 2016-2020, Spin's then not-girlfriend, StupidTamTam, had been a part of the NovaStorm community. Her charisma very often made her a point of attention to the users; though this very soon led to conflicts arising that made her a target of the extensive verbal abuse & gaslighting Novastorm was known for in the years preceding 2020.

As Spin imitates Stupidtamtam, his behavior very often would mimic her own & an expectation of agreeability was upon Spin. This would later become a long standing grievance of StupidTamTam that even 4 years later (2017-2021), she could not allow to pass. She would cite this era of incidents as the harbinger of death upon their relationship. Failure to ostracize those that StupidTamTam disliked would often result in her behavior dramatically shifting in an aggressive manner at Spin (though not limited to them) for their lack of assurance.

Incidents include:

• Charizardf1 lying to Tam about Spin's true feelings.
• The accusation that Zero used a video Tam posted publicly to Novastorm as an attempt to dislike the video & call her a slur in an attempt to defile her sanity.
• Failure to argue against Mado telling her to be reasonable (which she would later greatly value his advice on) as she would lash out at users who have nothing to do with any of the arguments she would partake in.
• Users of NovaStorm questioning her relationship with the user NeoFutureDude.

In the Winter of 2017, after a certain incident, StupiTamTam left Chatango for an amount of time she would not specify, nor announce. With no way of contacting this not-girlfriend for what would end up being the duration of nearly an entire year, Spin was not only in a depressive state, but seeking to fill a void left in Tam's wake. Their behavior at this time period would become increasingly flirtatious, sporadic, & flamboyant in such a way as to replicate the emotion of Tam being present.

Pokemon

Spin's Pokemon teams were often balanced teams with Pokemon chosen on a whim; not necessarily chosen out of viability. In the beginning of their time spent in NovaStorm, they would often be the target of joking because of their amateur teambuilding & Pokemon training knowledge. Lack of EV training, IV breeding, damage multiplier knowledge, & item usage were concepts not yet known to Spin in their first few months at Novastorm, but this would change as their friends made them more familiar with the mechanics of the game & competitive battling. Spin's favorite Pokemon would still be the stars of their team, but the style of training became one strictly focused on the strengths & potential of whatever Pokemon it is they chose.

Yu-Gi-Oh!

A passionate Yu-Gi-Oh! duelist, Spin's favorite cards & strategies would all show up conveniently in rambunctious decks they would make to duel their friends. In the years Spin's main deck has changed more than a few times, but they have always maintained a consistent affection for the card "HalloHallo". Obtained at an event they attended in 2017 with their childhood friend, Dean, HalloHallo is a card that Spin feels a spiritual connection with & sees everywhere.

The "Objectively" Era

“Once upon a time, I dreamt I was a butterfly, fluttering hither and thither, to all intents and purposes a butterfly. I was conscious only of my happiness as a butterfly, unaware that I was myself. Soon I awaked, and there I was, veritably myself again. Now I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly, dreaming I am a man.”

During the years of 2017-2019, Spin, as a result of a nihilistic perspective on life, would default critical thinking into a matter of "objective" values & "subjective" values. This was the means by which they justified their deckbuilding, & their way of playing Yu-Gi-Oh! duels. Belief that Performapal monsters weren't "objectively" bad was a means by which Spin enabled themself to use strategies that would often result in loss. Spin held a strong belief in the idea of fun by playing in a way that created an unbelievable series of luck & skill; exactly like the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime/manga. However, still an argumentative person, Spin found that they would often create the exact opposite effect of "entertainment" & "fun" by being a bad sport, refusing to change, & often being toxic; enforcing his type of "fun" onto others who play the game for different reasons.

Reading a quote by "Zhuangzhi", a feudal Chinese philosopher, Spin's epiphany led them to respect the beliefs & experiences of others in order to truly bring fun & entertainment; DEFEATING THE DARKNESS!!!

Guardian Angel Joan

'If I am not, may God put me there; and if I am, may God so keep me. I should be the saddest creature in the world if I knew I were not in His grace.'

In March of 2021, after an unfortunate burglary of their motorcycle, Spin received a card from Konami for a piece of artwork they had submitted that won them a spot in the Yu-Gi-Oh! At Home sweepstakes prizewinners. Guardian Angel Joan is a card with artwork depicting Jeanne D'Arc, a historical Catholic saint who led her military into battles after seeing visions & hearing the voices of angels. She was burned at a stake 3 times & labeled a "Crossdressing Witch"; as she had led battles disguised as a man. The executioner, Geoffroy Thérage, later stated that he "greatly feared to be damned for he had burned a holy woman".

Although tempted through persuasion, Spin has yet to sell this card despite it's monetary value; stating that it is a precious gift.

Super Smash Bros.

Pursuing a semi-professional career in Super Smash Bros, Spin has devoted a great deal of their time over the past 5 years to improving & learning with the help of UncleStew, Charizardf1, & Hydrarch. Presently MIA, Spin has departed from both NovaStorm & LunaStorm to pursue this dream & put their past behind them. Although not impressive by high level competitive player standards, Spin has recently placed well in tournaments by the standards of a new competitive player & has only continued to see improvement since their departure. Before this, however, were years of casual practice with friends across Super Smash Bros. 3ds & Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

• 7th place finish at Carmine's Student Tournament
• 2-0 victory against Mr Mystery at Gambit Collision
• 7th place finish at Run That Back

True to HalloHallo's nature, it appears everywhere in Spin's life. In the year of 2016, Spin played many times through Persona 4 for the Playstation 2. This was their introduction to the Persona franchise & would remain their only interest until the release of Persona 5 in 2017; where a demon based on the hero of French author Maurice Leblanc's novel; "Arsène", manifests as Joker's persona to assist in combating against Shadows in another world. Arsène (Persona 5) is depicted as a slender, fiery faced demon with a smile engraved in flames that can be seen emanating underneath his mask. He wears an eccentric breast-length coat & a corset underneath, with a thin gorget around his coat collars. Darkness is the source of his powers, but he is said to assist law-abiding citizens & help those in need despite his devious acts.

LunaStorm

In the wake of the events taking place from May 2020 to December 2020, Spin created a Discord server that would become the new established chat for users who felt Novastorm was no longer an environment fit for them. The users of Lunastorm were almost all people of minority backgrounds who no longer felt comfortable with the level of disconcern moderation in NovaStorm had for people who were not cis-gendered, straight, & white when the topic of racism, homophobia, ableism, & transphobia finally came to be questioned after many years of the chat's moderation denying that the former were issues clearly present in even any form of documentation that exists from the chat.

These issues aside, most importantly, users who left Novastorm had grown increasingly aloof from Hmado because of his behavior in the months of May 2020 to December 2020; as well as the months that would follow into 2021. In an effort to create a space that better appealed to these users who wanted their opinions heard & a chat environment worth keeping, Spin began the LunaStorm discord in December 2020.
